Lisa Chang
Lisa Chang started Hula Halau ‘Ohana Holo‘oko‘a (Hula School Where Everyone is Family) with one adult hula class in 1998 when she was asked to teach by the Portland based Nā Hawai‘i club. In 2006 she gave up her 20-year career as a pharmacist to follow her passion of sharing hula & Tahitian dance with her community. The school is celebrating 25 years and has grown to over 100 students in 13 classes ranging in age from 3 to 90 years old. Since the pandemic she now has students across the U.S. Lisa loves sharing the aloha spirit and the inclusivity you feel when learning about hula and the Hawaiian culture. She looks forward welcoming students of all ages, genders, nationalities and experience levels to join their hula and Tahitian family.
Lisa has performed professionally since 1989 and helps create Hawaiian cultural events her clients envision. One of the highlights of her career was taking her dancers to South Korea to perform at the Cheonan World Dance Festival in 2016. Hula Halau ʻOhana Holoʻokoʻa performs for private, corporate and community events. Lisa looks forward to bringing a flavor of Hawaiʻi to your next event.
