Meet Lacey Beaty, Mayor of Beaverton, Oregon

As a kid, Lacey Beaty wanted to be a part of something bigger. Her aunt, a newspaper editor, and activist encouraged her to go for it. Just before 9/11, Lacey joined the Army and landed in a bombed-out building in Iraq. She made it home and earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree. In between, she dove into her community, with a special focus on the homeless, got into public service, became the youngest person ever elected to office in Beaverton's history, then was elected Mayor in 2020.
